Skin Primers Reviewed

This summers beauty must haves....

We have all been there in the summer months, sitting in the sunshine, iced cold drink in hand,  hair blowing in the slight breeze, gorgeous summer dress with your perfect summer pedicured toes....  then reality hits when you nip to freshen up your face and you realise you have been sat in the sun with panda eyes as your mascara has melted in the heat and that dewy natural foundation base that you left the house with has half disappeared into a blotchy mess and has revealed a greasy unattractive mass on your face...... not a great look, especially as your once glossed lips are now resembling Elephant skin, to boot!

Okay guys so lets get to the bottom of the average girls summer make up wants.

  • Summer glow
  • Big doe eyes
  • Moist lips
  • Great skin
Firstly what we need to start off the day is a great make up primer.  I have sampled quite a few in my time and I have my own preferences, but here are 3 very different types of primers that I used quite a lot and have reviewed.

Gosh velvet Touch Line Perfector

This is a product I have had for quite some time, in my kit.  I bought it as I felt it would be perfect for mature skin types, especially as it is great at minimising lines, even deep set facial lines.

However whilst it does have great properties of minimising lines and smoothing the skin, which is what it is designed for, it tends to crumble a heck of a lot upon application, which is a nightmare to say the least, mostly around the eyebrow area as it gets caught in the brow hair, which isn't a great look for anyone to try and pull off!

On the plus side, it would be great if kept to areas that are not around the eye, but I guess if I am to be totally honest and frank, what's the point of minimising lines if you should avoid the eye area, which is where most of us notice the first signs of ageing!

This primer is not something I would ever buy again.

Gosh Velvet Touch

Now we have another Gosh Velvet Touch  Primer, which in comparison to its fellow Gosh sister, is much better!  In fact as a budget primer for me this is a winner.

It covers open pores, the texture is silky smooth which helps the skin look fantastic without any extra make up, plus it does help the longevity of any foundation that you may use on top.  Everything you could ask for from a primer and its very reasonably priced  at £12.99 from Superdrug, BONUS!

Arbonne makeup Primer

Right here we have it, my Favourite primer to date.  Its awesome, hands down the best primer I have used so far.

Now I may be slightly bias as I do adore Arbonne and the ingredients that they use in their products, but whenever I have used this primer on my clients, they too have the same opinion as I do.... LOVE!

Its silky textured but not greasy, its doesn't seem to just sit on the skin making it feel too coated as some other primers can and it is a great line minimiser and gives great pore coverage, whilst prolonging any base make up.  This is hands down a must buy of your summer make up kit.  Its around £20 and can be bought on-line.

So there you have it, my review some of the highs and lows of  a small portion of skin primers on the market.  Make sure you dont get caught out this summer, get your primer and get prepped!

Keep posted for next weeks review of the Summer essentials.
